Best Boutique Hotels in Paris

There is something special about staying in a boutique hotel in Paris.

Rather than feeling like you're simply checking into a hotel, a great boutique property can feel like you've found your own little corner of the city.

The design feels personal. The atmosphere has character. And the location can put you right in the middle of a neighborhood you might otherwise only visit.

When clients ask me about the best boutique hotels in Paris, these are seven properties I love recommending.

They each offer something a little different, which is exactly why I don't believe there is one “best” boutique hotel for everyone.

The right one depends on how you want your Paris experience to feel.

La Fantaisie

Located on Rue Cadet in the 9th arrondissement, La Fantaisie is a wonderful choice for travelers who want something colorful, creative, and distinctly Parisian.

The hotel has 63 rooms and 10 suites, along with a garden and rooftop, features that are particularly special in Paris. Its design by Martin Brudnizki has a playful, joyful quality, while the hotel's restaurants and bars give you plenty of reasons to linger.

I particularly like La Fantaisie for travelers who want to experience a livelier, more local-feeling side of Paris.

Rue Cadet is in the heart of the 9th arrondissement, within easy reach of areas like Pigalle and the Grands Magasins.

Best for: Design lovers, couples, food-focused travelers, and anyone looking for a vibrant neighborhood.

Villa-des-Prés

If your idea of Paris involves Saint-Germain-des-Prés, beautiful interiors, and a quieter sense of luxury, Villa-des-Prés deserves a place on your list.

Located near Rue de Buci, this intimate 5-star hotel has 34 rooms and suites, with interiors designed by Bruno Borrione and original works of art throughout the property. Some rooms also have private balconies or terraces.

There's also an indoor swimming pool, sauna, fitness area, and a small leafy patio.

But what I particularly love about Villa-des-Prés is the feeling of staying in a beautifully designed Parisian home rather than a traditional hotel.

Best for: Couples, art and design lovers, and travelers who want an elegant Left Bank experience.

Hôtel Dame des Arts

In the heart of the Latin Quarter, Hôtel Dame des Arts offers a contemporary take on the creative spirit of the Left Bank.

The interiors were designed by Raphael Navot, using materials such as wood, porcelain, bamboo, and glass. The hotel also has a rooftop bar with panoramic views across Paris and a courtyard garden.

And for travelers who would love an Eiffel Tower view without actually staying next to the Eiffel Tower, some of the hotel's terrace rooms offer exactly that.

Its location on the Left Bank also makes it a wonderful base for exploring the Latin Quarter, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Best for: Couples, first-time visitors, design lovers, and travelers who want a central Left Bank location.

Hôtel La Tamise

For travelers who want a more intimate boutique experience in a very central location, I often recommend Hôtel La Tamise.

This four-star hotel sits on a quiet street just opposite the Tuileries Gardens, with the Louvre, Place Vendôme, Rue Saint-Honoré, and Palais-Royal all within easy reach.

The hotel has just 19 rooms, giving it a more personal feel than many larger Paris properties.

Its 19th-century character has also been thoughtfully preserved, including original stained glass, cement tiles, and parquet flooring, while the interiors incorporate contemporary touches.

I especially like La Tamise for travelers who want to be in the center of Paris without feeling like they're staying in a large tourist hotel.

Best for: Couples, first-time visitors, shoppers, museum lovers, and travelers who prioritize location.

Le Grand Mazarin

If you're looking for a boutique hotel with a little more drama, Le Grand Mazarin is one to consider.

Located in the heart of the Marais, this five-star hotel combines Parisian luxury with an eclectic, theatrical design by Martin Brudnizki.

There's a restaurant, distinctive bar, and an indoor swimming pool beneath a fresco, along with a fitness room and treatment room.

But the location is a major part of the appeal.

The Marais is one of my favorite areas for travelers who want to step outside their hotel and immediately find themselves surrounded by cafés, boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and beautiful historic streets.

Best for: Couples, luxury travelers, design enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to stay in the heart of the Marais.

Le Petit Beaumarchais

For a boutique hotel that feels warm, welcoming, and genuinely easy to settle into, Le Petit Beaumarchais is a lovely option.

The hotel is located between Place de la Bastille and Place des Vosges, with the Marais just a short walk away.

It also has a spa and cocktail bar, making it easy to slow down and enjoy the hotel after a day of exploring Paris.

What I like about this property is that it doesn't try too hard.

The concept is simple: a comfortable, welcoming place that feels a little like a home away from home.

Best for: Couples, repeat Paris visitors, and travelers who want a relaxed boutique experience with easy access to the Marais.

Hôtel Grand Cœur Latin

For a charming stay on the Left Bank, Hôtel Grand Cœur Latin is one of my recommendations.

Located in the 5th arrondissement, this four-star boutique hotel combines contemporary design with references to the history of the Latin Quarter.

One of its standout features is the Roman-inspired indoor pool, along with a spa and patio.

Its location also makes it convenient for exploring the Latin Quarter and nearby landmarks and neighborhoods.

I particularly like this hotel for travelers who want to experience the Left Bank while having somewhere inviting to return to at the end of the day.

Best for: Couples, first-time visitors, and travelers looking for a boutique hotel with a wellness element.

How to Choose the Best Boutique Hotel in Paris for You

The best boutique hotel in Paris is the one that fits the way you want to experience the city.

Start with the neighborhood. Do you want to step outside into the energy of the Marais, the classic charm of Saint-Germain, or somewhere quieter and more residential?

Then think about what matters most during your stay. Maybe it’s a beautiful view, a rooftop, a pool or spa, more space, exceptional service, or simply being able to walk to the places you’re most excited to experience.

The right hotel brings those pieces together—and becomes part of your Paris experience.
